Following a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park, some forest rangers reportedly began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage.
One ranger found a small bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Sickened by the eerie sight, he used a stick and turned the bird over. To his amazement, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother's wings.
The mother bird, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her little ones to the base of the tree and gathered them under her wings. She instinctively knew that the toxic smoke would rise.
Although she could have flown to safety she had refused to abandon her babies.
When the blaze had arrived and as the heat scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast. Because of her unselfishness and her willingness to sacrifice her own life, those under the cover of her wings would live as a testimony to her undying love.

After reading of the preceding incident, I immediately found myself being reminded that, God loves each of us in a like manner, and therefore we should be different because of it.
